Rosemarie’s Reel
What people are saying:

“Rose is the real deal.”

“Smart, energetic, thorough, curious, and trustworthy are words that I would rapid-fire use to describe Rosemarie Beltz and her approach to life, learning, medicine, and medical reporting.

Rose is the real deal. As a medical professional affiliated with the best hospitals in the country and as a medical journalist, she understands more than anyone how important accurate and trustworthy health information is. Her straightforward New Yorker approach to conversations is refreshing and disarming.

Rose is exactly what we need more of—a trusted knowledgeable professional focused on cutting through the noise and breaking down complicated and important health issues.”

Julie EisenmanPresident and General Manager, WNEP — PA

“For Rose, sharing information is simply second nature and just what the doctor ordered.”

“She loves explaining how the worlds of health and wellness meet illness and medical treatment. She’s not just using book knowledge, Rose works in some of the country’s best hospitals as a cardiac perfusionist. And, as a journalist uses her professional healthcare experiences to expertly interpret important for viewers.”

Sandy CootsFreelance Writer & Producer, WLTX News 19

“Hey, you got a minute?”

“I heard that exact question from Rose dozens of times in the time I worked with her. She learned a lot in a short amount of time and was always eager to learn more, and I was always happy to oblige. I wish EVERYONE looked to improve their skills with the enthusiasm that Rose does.”

Brett AllberyPhotojournalist, KREM2-TV

“I have had the pleasure of working with Rosemarie both clinically in the heart room, and professionally in her role as a journalist.”

“She brings to the table a keen grasp of the details that impact our health and our lives, integrating her science background with the stories and events she reports on.”

Abe DeAnda, Jr., MD, FACS, FAHAProfessor and Chief, Cardiovascular and , UTMB – Galveston

“Rosemarie is an impressive person.”

“She’s a successful healthcare professional who has made the switch to Journalism. It’s a brave move, done with all her heart and soul.

While still a student she’s come up with terrific ideas for her Master’s project, breaking ground in health reporting. As an intern at NBC News, she pitched and reported 3 solo by-line stories.

She’s dedicated, motivated, smart and tenacious. I highly recommend her.”

Lenny BourinTalent Coach CNN, Adjunct Professor Emerson College Journalism, Boston University Journalism, former adjunct professor Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, www.lennybourin.com

“It is clear to me that you have what it takes to excel at reporting.”

“You are intrepid, energetic, and well organized. You are willing to take on unfamiliar material and talk to strangers. You are willing to hunt for prospective sources in pursuit of news. Your resolutely positive attitude will serve you well as a journalist. You come across as naturally inquisitive, not a journalist out to dig dirt or play “gotcha!” I have no doubt that you will find sources revealing things to you that they would not tell another journalist. This is not a small matter. It’s a major asset.”

Professor David HajduProfessor, Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism

“I trust Rose completely with my patients, both in and out of the operating room.”

“She would be a valuable asset to your institution and I give her my highest recommendation.”

Andrew Hurwitz, MDCardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Glendale Memorial Hospital, Glendale, CA

“I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with Rosemarie Beltz.”

“I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with Rosemarie Beltz for the past year in the capacity of Regional Director and Clinical Peer. Rose was hired by me, as a per-diem clinical perfusionist, assisting a dynamic cardiac surgical team, covering a variety of complex surgical cases.

She has shown clinical expertise, self-motivation, attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to make quick decisions in the most critical of situations. She is tenacious, hard–working, dedicated, and always ready to lend a hand and volunteer to help, even after having worked a 16 hour day.”

Patricia A. Travassos, C.C.P.Senior Cardiovascular Perfusionist & Western Regional Director, Comprehensive Care Services, Las Vegas, Nevada

“I am very happy to tell you I was wrong.”

“Rosemarie Beltz was a student in my Broadcast News Reporting and Writing class during the just completed Winter quarter 2015, and when she asked me to write a recommendation letter for her, I was delighted.

Broadcast News writing is a very tough skill to master, and the course only runs 10 weeks and is very fast-paced. That said, in the beginning I was worried about Rosemarie because she was taking the course while also working in the medical field, and I was concerned she wouldn’t be able to devote her full time to the class.

I am very happy to tell you I was wrong. After a slow start, Rosemarie ended up being an excellent student. She was one of the top three in the class. She’s a tireless worker who is both devoted and engaging and applied all of these qualities in my class. Her medical career responsibility sometimes caused her to be late arriving to class, but she dutifully made up and completed all her assignments and showed enormous progress from the beginning to the end of the course, which she passed with an “A” grade.

I’ve only known Rosemarie a short time, however she’s someone whom I strongly believe will go on to make amazing accomplishments in life.”
